Portland: The vision of a green city
I am very lucky to have spent the last 14 days in Porland. The city is located in west side of the state of Oregon, it is the third most populated city of the northwest pacific region with 2 million residents. However, Portland is not characterized for its enormous buildings or its incredible evolution, but for its concern for the natural resources and the environment.
During my stay in Portland, I have had the opportunity to visit different companies, each one has a different work, but all of them have in common the sustainability as a cornerstone in the way they work. Eco-Trust, Re-Building, Hot-Lips, Iberdrola Renewables or Vestas are some of them.
The sustainable mind of the Portland companies is not a marketing strategy to attract tourist and customers, but it is which they consider the most suitable. This mentality is so important that is taken in consideration in the education of the region. So much so, it is very difficult to find garbage on the floor and very easy to see a system of renewable generation.
To sum up, I can say that Portland is a true of the development and success is not incompatible with concern for the environment. It is possible to carry out all that we propose, respecting natural resources.
