Design Thinking

It is time to tell you more about my innovation classes where we learned about a new concept called “Design Thinking“.

The father of this idea is Tim Brown and this is his blog! He also wrote a strongly recommended book called “Change by Design”. He is CEO and president of IDEO, a global consultancy that contributed to such standard-setting innovations as the first mouse for Apple and the Palm V.

Design Thinking is basically a methodology to resolve problems and create new products or service in a very innovative way, using your creativity. It is composed of 4 phases: observation, future scenarios, generation of ideas and prototyping. My last post concerning this class was about future scenarios. This monday we went to the Hub Madrid to work on the generation of ideas phase. It was very interesting and nice!

This is how this place looks like.. nice office isn’t it?

Everything is arranged in a NOT common way in order to foster creativity, teamwork, sharing of ideas and innovation. They also organize workshops, events, rent the place, etc. It’s located in the centre of Madrid in a former garage.

So, during the generation of ideas phase we came up with a lot of ideas and it was very funny. We realized together we could think of so many different solutions!! We had to put our ideas on the wall by writing, drawing, showing, on many many post-its also!

Next class will be about prototyping our best idea: the EOI bus equipped with charges, WiFi, coffee & tea, fast & cheap, design, comfortable, fun and clean!
