Hotlips Pizza
On Tuesday we went to Ecotrust in the morning. After that James Murphy came to university to talk about Costco that will open 2 shops in Spain (my partners will talk about this 2 things in other blogs). The last presenter was David Yudkin (CEO and founder of Hotlips pizza).
Hotlips pizza is sustainable company, this company is in Ecotrust building that only accept companies or foundations that are friendly with the environmental and sustainable. They respect the environmental, they calculate footprint and try to get products with less footprint. They have different menus by seasons because the production is different and you can obtain different fresh products and its different the quality of them in the different seasons.
He talked about the problems that they had with pineapple because it have a high footprint and they try to change the pineapple and ham pizza but its so difficult to change people’s habits and they have to find new forms to change it. For example he said that they put new pizzas with ham very tentative. Other thing that they did was change the form that they brought the pineapple for reducing footprint (carbon emissions).
After they think about sodas. They used to have coke and some like that but this it is not sustainable and they decided to make soda with natural fruit and you reduced the footprint and they continue with their philosophy. They thing that I was surprise to heard is that now 60% of the beverage´s sales is their own soda and coke is only 40%.
So it is so interesting because they innovate all the time for making better products while they reduce their footprint and they do every day more sustainable.
