First Impressions in Portland
These days I am staying in Portland with The Study Trips that organize EOI, we stay here to compare the sustainability of this country with the Spanish sustainability.
The first things that surprise me are that the compromise with the environment and the peace that are in Portland.
Here in Portland there are many companies that are sustainable, we visited some for example, Boeing, Columbia, these companies has sustainable politics, and they explained us this politics, but in my opinion this politics are this for marketing.
The University of Portland is nice; here you can feel the wonderful ambient green. The waste are separate, you have throw the waste in the adapted bucket. The cutleries are starch of potato and you can throw in the compost waste.
There are many sustainable buildings for example Ecotrust, it has been rebuilt and now there are many sustainable shops and business, for example HotLips that sell ecologic pizzas and soda. I like so much because all waste is compost recipient, for example the glass is made with corn, and you can throw in the compost waste. The soda is a natural juice with gas, the flavors are apple, strawberry, pear, cherry, etc. There is also a small business café that bet fair trade.
This week has been very excited for me, and I have noticed that Spain needs to much do in sustainability.
