The study trip continues!
Good night! I continue in Shanghai and I have to tell you it has been a nice week. We have learnt many things about this complicated country and I want to sum it up in a few lines:
- They don’t like speaking about policy, religion or earnings but you have to be prepared because they like asking you about all these terms. The reason is because you are foreign and therefore they can ask you about it.
- You must be patient with these people because they don’t like going quick when they are dealing.
- You have to be careful with your body language. They usually do some movements and signs in a different way of us. For example, we back down on the chair and cross the arms when someone tells us something which we don’t like and we aren’t interested, but Chinese people do it when they are very interested in negotiating with us.
- When you are going to invite a future partner or provider, you have to respect some ethical rules they are used to following if you want to be polite with them.
But we have also learnt things about the future of the country and what they are doing in oder to grow as quick as they are growing.
The teachers who are teaching us the way to do business in China and how to negotiate with these people are very professional and I regard they are doing a good job because I am learning a lot about this culture.
On the other hand, at the afternoons we have visited some enterprises and business places like ERA Solar (how I told you on Monday), Ningbo European Industrial Park, Jiwu Market (5 buildings with more than 53.000 shops) or Baosteel (a company who makes steel blocks).
In a couple of days, I have the thought of telling you about my free weekend in Shanghai and Hangzhou and the rest of visits we have to do.
Greetings from Shanghai!
