Lemelson Vineyards

In our visit to Portland, today we had visited the Lemelson vineyards, that amazing place is situated near to Carlton, half way between Portland and the coast.

The owner Eric Lemelson, give us his point of view about how to produce wine with a very high quality and in a sosteinability way. They attempt to reduce the CO2 emissions using 50% fuel by biodiesel. Also, they use photovoltaic panels to reduce 1/3 of the electricity consumed.

Eric explain us how was designed the winery. They use the gravity to move the wine from level to level of the winery, and approximately around 80% of the building is underground with the final goal to conserve the wine with a regular temperature.

At the end of the autumn the pick up the grapes by hand and they and are careful during the process to ensure that the best grapes make one of the best wines of the area with different varieties like “Pinot Noir”, “Pinot Gris”, “Chardonay” and “Riesling”.

Fortunately, we can taste the wine and it´s amazing and taste realy good.

Thanks Eric Lamelson to open the doors of your home and thanks so much Kate Regan and Mary Simons to take your time in organizate this great visit and all the visits in this seminary.
